Jackson Symphony Orchestra
Everyone in town is still
talking about the great the great show that you put on with the Jackson
Symphony for our April 12th Pops Concert. The evening was a huge
success both musically and otherwise – setting a new attendance record for the
Jackson Symphony. As far as anyone here can recall, this was the first sold-out
show at the Carl Perkins Civic
Center in the history of
our orchestra. Single ticket sales were actually about $5,000 more than we had
budgeted. More than 50% of the single ticket purchasers were first-time
attendees at a symphony concert and quite a few have subsequently bought
subscriptions for next season. We couldn’t have hoped for a better way to
finish concert season!
Most of the comments that I
have heard from subscribers were that they were absolutely amazed at how much
it was like watching "the King” himself perform (and since we’re an hour from Graceland, many of them really do know.) To hear Sandy
Posey on the show wa a special added bonus. The entire production – band,
back-up singers, charts – all were totally professional quality. It was a high
energy party from the minute you took the stage.
We greatly appreciate how
easy you and your people were to work with. Thanks so much for helping us out
with the interviews during the week prior to the concert. That is very likely
what made the difference in kicking ticket sales over the top.
We have often speculated
about what it would take to get Jackson
really excited about a symphony program – you have given us the answer. I would
enthusiastically recommend this show to any orchestra as a tremendous way to
get new patrons into the hall for a fantastic evening of entertainment.
